The 1950's

These are all 50's or very early 60's Gibsons and are all referred to as 3/4 scale models. The term is somewhat misleading as a 3/4 scale instrument has only a 2" shorter scale at 22 and 3/4" rather then the usual 24 and 3/4". This period was the heyday of 3/4 scale instruments for Gibson and they produced the six models shown here. They are, left to right: a '55 ES-140; '59 Les Paul Special (one of 12 shipped); '59 ES-125T; '59 Melody Maker; '59 Les Paul Junior (shipped in '61), and '60 LG-2 acoustic. The amps are also all 50's Gibsons and are discuseed in a later post.
